Position title
Warm, Energetic After-School Nanny / Family Assistant Needed in Elk Grove for Two Children (Job ID #534)
Description

This warm and devoted Elk Grove family is seeking a kind, reliable, and emotionally attuned nanny to support two children part-time. Mom is a loving single parent who deeply values consistency, stability, and true partnership. She is hoping to find someone who can bring a steady, positive presence into the home and genuinely become part of their village long term.

The schedule will primarily be Monday–Friday in the afternoons, approximately 1:00/2:00pm – 6:00pm (20–25 hours per week, flexible on start time). The nanny would arrive before school pick up to help prepare the home for the afternoon (light tidying, snack/meal prep, organization) before picking the children up from school each day. One school is very close to the home, while the other is a 15–20 minute drive away (both will attend the same school beginning in August). The nanny must have a safe and reliable vehicle with full coverage insurance. Mileage will be reimbursed.

Care will be for two children. The 6-year-old boy is bright, thoughtful, and loves books and learning. He is fairly independent with play but will need support staying on track with homework after school. The 3½-year-old girl is full of personality and energy; she currently loves all things princess and enjoys costume changes, singing, and imaginative play. The ideal nanny will be confident balancing both children’s needs at once while maintaining calm, upbeat leadership and gentle structure throughout the afternoon.

Mom occasionally has later work meetings (approximately 4 times per month), and the ideal nanny would be open to staying later in the evening when needed (advance notice will always be given). Grandmothers are nearby and involved, and an older cousin stays with the family for extended visits throughout the year. The nanny should feel comfortable working collaboratively within a supportive, multi-generational dynamic while also being able to operate independently when needed.

The family can offer additional hours (up to 30 per week) for a nanny who is open to taking on more family assistant responsibilities such as cooking, organizing, running errands, and additional household support. Those extra hours would typically be added by starting earlier some days or staying later into the evening.

Summer hours may increase to full time if the children are not in camp. The family would love someone open to additional summer coverage, though they understand if the nanny has other commitments. The family may also travel for a few weeks each summer (and shorter trips throughout the year). They are open to potentially having the nanny travel with them for some of that time, but it is not required.

This family values emotional awareness, redirection over punishment, and consistent but gentle boundaries. They are looking for a nanny who is patient, grounded, proactive, and able to create structure and flow in the afternoons. A true team player who brings warmth, steadiness, and positivity into the home will thrive here.

The family has a gated pool and would be open to swimming with the children once they receive further lessons if the nanny is highly experienced supervising multiple children in the water.

Spanish speaking is a bonus but not required. There is also an older, very sweet dog in the home who won't require care.
