3 Options for Parents of Children Now Schooling From Home

COVID19 threw all of us through a loop last March. With every non-essential business shutting down and forcing us all into quarantine. But for us parents who have school-age children, and work ourselves, it brought about some very significant challenges at home.

While some may have the luxury of working at home, and easily being able to lounge at any time during quarantine, parents did not have that luxury.

Schools closed suddenly, and it was a real struggle for many working parents to adjust to not only working from home, or to find childcare for those essential workers. But also having to finish the school year off for your child at the same time.

While we would love for school schedules to return to normal this coming school year, for at least the first half of the year, that will not be the case.

It was recently announced that Sacramento County public schools will NOT be returning to class this fall semester. At least for one to two months. The school system states it’s based on a few other factors which you can read more about here.

The COVID-19 test positivity rate, plus hospitalization numbers, will need to go on a severely downward trend and sustain that trend before classes can be held physically in schools. County officials have also stated they will have to feel confident and able to do adequate group testing for schools if and when a coronavirus case pops up.

But what if you are a working parent, whether at or in the home?

Thankfully, many Sacramento-area companies are giving parents paid time to assist their children with distance learning.

But as stated above, some parents may not have the option to work from home or may not have the time or mental energy to keep up with the studies. For those parents, there are a few options available.

Here are 3 options available for this school year:

#1

Private Home Educators

These professionals are licensed teachers for hire. They are available for you to hire to come into your home and teach your child. It is homeschooling in a sense, but instead of you, the parent as the teacher, there is a paid teacher coming into your home to teach.

Tutors

A tutor is a teacher that comes to you to help with the education of your child. They are a great addition to distance/virtual learning. They can aid and reinforce what your child is learning from the established curriculum from their school.

#3

Nanny

A nanny is an all-around option for many parents. Often, they can be certified teachers, and when compensated, will see to the education of your child. They also help take care of the physical needs of your child while you work away or from home.

Now is the time to explore and weigh all of your options. Do you know that you, the parent has a plethora of options during these times? Look at each one carefully and decide what will be the perfect fit for your family.

Remember, no matter what, we at Capital Park Nannies know that you are doing your best, no matter what choice you make regarding your child’s education. If you choose the private educator or nanny route, let us know! We can pair you with the nanny that will fit your needs.
